Large Fireside Candlesticks
I Designed and created this pair of large fireside candlesticks inspired by neo-gothic architecture during my final year of my blacksmithing degree. I drew inspiration from the Hereford cathedral and other grand buildings such as Notre Dame with there flying buttresses and spires. I wanted to showcase the sectional changes that can be achieved when forging and the way the steel moves when it is hot. I also wanted the candlesticks almost reaching and stretching for the heavens creating a sense of size and grandeur you get when looking up at cathedrals.

“Irons in the fire”- forging the tapers of the candlesticks.
