Armada Tree Sculpture

During my time studying at Hereford college of Art I designed and forged a large exterior sculpture. The form was influenced by an avenue of large English oak trees that faced an avenue of large Spanish chestnut trees planted in such a way to represent the naval battles Against the Spanish Armada. The trees were twisted and battered by the winds for hundreds of years and I wanted my sculpture to represent the twisting of the trees and also the ribs shapes that made up the bodies of those great ships the trees were planted to represent.
