Damascus wedding knife
I wanted to make a special wedding gift for my best friend on his wedding day and decided that a hand forged wedding cake knife would be just the ticket. It is made from wrought iron and high carbon steel fire welded together in the same way samurai swords are made. I then twisted and folded the steel and repeated the fire welding process until the desired pattern was achieved. the steel was then forged and ground to shape and heat treated ready for the handle assembly. I designed and made the brass work and the handle and even the walnut presentation stand. Needless to say my best friend and his new wife were blown away with there gift and it slid effortlessly through the unsuspecting cake.
