Simple Textured Balcony and Stair Railings
Whilst in Canada working with Reimer co. Blacksmiths I was asked to make some simple textured railings for a new build. I textured all the bars hot under the rounded dies of the power hammer, jigs were made and used to ensure the bends and curves of each piece were uniform and right. I also created a tool to ensure the set downs were the correct angle and depth to correlate with the horizonal top rail. The railings were then welded and riveted together and painted ready for fitting. I also had to make a matching handrail for some steps which meant the design had to be changed to accommodate the change in angle of the railings because they were going onto stairs. These railings turned out well and the clients were very pleased with them and so was I.
